Transaction denied: Wells Fargo ATM destroyed by forklift in attempted robbery

A forklift was allegedly used in an attempt to break in to an ATM at the Wells Fargo bank in west Dickinson early Wednesday morning.

A forklift was allegedly driven nearly a mile from its construction site location and used in an attempt to rob an ATM at the Wells Fargo bank early Wednesday morning in west Dickinson.

The Dickinson Police Department is investigating the destruction of the ATM and the attempted theft of its contents after an alarm was triggered at about 12:14 a.m.

No money was stolen from the ATM in the incident and police have no suspects, Sgt. Dave Wallace said.

Thrifty White Pharmacy leaving mall in March

A longtime tenant of the Prairie Hills Mall is leaving for its own space.

Dave Reuter, vice president of personnel for Thrifty White Pharmacy, said the Dickinson business is relocating to its own building nearing completion on the Third Avenue West frontage road between Brady Martz and Eyewear Concepts and behind the North Hills Shopping Center.

The new pharmacy plans to be open in its new location Monday, March 2, Reuter said. Its final day at the mall is Saturday, Feb. 28.

“This really gets us into a real building that’s a professional pharmacy,” he said.

The store, commonly known by its former name, White Drug, is selling out of its food and other merchandise at the mall location through the rest of February.

Dickinson's wait for Wings ends

The wings are ready and the beer is flowing at Buffalo Wild Wings Grill & Bar in Dickinson.

The long-awaited restaurant officially opened its doors Monday after a weekend training opening that packed its roughly 8,300 square foot facility in the West Ridge Development on Saturday night and whet the community’s appetite for the city’s first new national chain restaurant in more than a decade.

“We’re expecting this to be one of the busiest Buffalo Wild Wings in the franchise,” said Ken Herslip of Minot, who along with his family owns the Dickinson, Minot and Williston franchise locations.

IN DEVELOPMENT: Dickinson Hills, West Ridge face hurdles while moving forward

For about three years, Brian Hymel has split his time between Dickinson and Salt Lake City. His wife doesn’t really like it, and neither do his children. It’s tough to say goodbye to them every couple weeks when he returns to North Dakota for work, he said.

But unlike many of the people drawn to western North Dakota over the past five years, Hymel isn’t directly connected to oil. Instead, he and his partners are in the process of building areas to serve the people coming to Dickinson because of work related to the Oil Patch.

Their latest project, the 98-acre Dickinson Hills Shopping Center mixed-use development along Interstate 94, is aimed at attracting both new and longtime residents.
